Torys ready to help foster next generation of change makers with Brilliant Catalyst partnership
Torys is proud to announce its partnership with the Ontario Tech University in the form of ongoing support of its Brilliant Catalyst incubator and sponsoring the incubator’s Catalyst Challenge.
The Catalyst Challenge—which takes place throughout August—will feature teams of university students creating innovative concepts to address challenges in health, talent and education within rural Canada. Successful teams will be incubated within Brilliant Catalyst and supported by Torys lawyers who will provide insight and direction as they move toward developing market-ready prototypes.
Ontario Tech University Director of Creativity and Entrepreneurship Osman Hamid said the Catalyst Challenge is a tool to engage the innovation ecosystem and solve real life issues affecting our society.
“This year's challenge focuses on rural Canada and pushes its participants to think about issues in health, education and talent within this geographical region. As the only university-based incubator in the Region of Durham, Brilliant Catalyst is building its capacity to propel the next generation of change makers,” Osman said.
“This Catalyst challenge offers an opportunity to identify and nurture the future change makers of our country. Partners like Torys provide subject matter expertise and networks that not only help ideate but also inspire the implementation of these ideas to support our mission of positive societal impact.”
Head of Torys’ Emerging Companies and Venture Capital practice Konata Lake said Torys is excited to partner and provide ongoing support to the Brilliant Catalyst incubator, where lawyers will present to the incubator’s cohorts on various legal and strategic issues.
“Durham is filled with many excellent entrepreneurs with ideas that will benefit all of Canada. We are thrilled to support Brilliant Catalyst in its mission to help turn these ideas into a reality,” Konata said.
