Rima Ramchandani anticipates 2019 IPOs in cannabis, healthcare, technology and consumer industries
In an article by Thomson Reuters, partner Rima Ramchandani provided her 2019 predictions for deal volume and which industries she believes will see the most activity.
After hitting a 12-year high in 2018, from the previous year, the article discusses how Canadian M&A is predicted to grow stronger as a result of consolidation among energy companies and increasing numbers of cannabis deals.
In contrast, Canadian equity capital markets deal volume slumped to a 14-year low in 2018 due to a shortage of major deals involving natural resource sectors.
Rima commented on this decline, saying “greater volatility can mean less attractive IPO pricing relative to other capital raising options.”
However, much to the credit of recreational marijuana legalization, she predicts an increase in initial public offerings in the cannabis, healthcare, technology and consumer industries for 2019.
