Molly Reynolds Predicts Class Action Uptick in Law Times

Counsel Molly Reynolds was featured in an article by the Law Times, which examined the consequences of new mandatory breach reporting under Canada’s privacy legislation.

Molly, who believes the new reporting obligations will likely increase the volume of class actions, explained “class-actions lawyers will be aware of more incidents that pose risk of harm to Canadians.”

“And that may well lead to more negative exposure for those companies,” Molly said.

Molly also noted we may see more publicity surrounding these class actions, as well as “an increased risk of litigation for Canadian private sector companies, which would be accompanied by the potential of reputational harm resulting from negative media attention after the breach is reported.”
