Toronto-based head of private equity Michael Akkawi has told Reuters that Canada remains a focus for American players with the news that private equity deals hit a record high in the first half of 2017.
The article published on August 2 says foreign buyout firms chasing Canadian assets helped with the push, which saw deal values jump 55% to C$14.6 billion, compared to the same time last year.
“There’s quite a bit of a focus from American players on Canada,” Mike told Reuters.
“And that focus is on the bigger deals.”
