We are proud to report that the Southwest Calgary Ring Road Project has won the 2016 Gold Medal Award for Project Financing from the Canadian Council for Public-Private Partnerships (CCPPP). Of the over 240 PPP projects in Canada, only five are chosen each year by the CCPPP to be recognized at their annual awards event, held this year on Monday, November 14th in Toronto. Below is an excerpt of the CCPPP Awards Panel’s summary of the project.
This project is vital to the completion of the Calgary Ring Road corridor and consists of new and existing infrastructure – approximately 31 kilometers of new 6 and 8 lane divided freeway including additional and auxiliary lanes. Fifteen kilometers of Priority New Infrastructure will be located on lands that were acquired from the Tsuut’ina Nation.
The panel also recognized the project for its “unique brownfield, greenfield and complex financing which was its most innovative feature.” You can learn more details about the project, including Torys’ involvement, here.
