Today the University of Calgary announced the new Torys LLP Excellence in Business Skills for Lawyers Program. This program is part of the Faculty of Law’s long-term goal of becoming the Canadian leader in lawyering skills development.
“We are very excited to support the Faculty of Law with this gift,” says Scott Cochlan, partner at the firm’s Calgary office and member of the Faculty of Law campaign cabinet. “Preparing students with the skills to be successful benefits the students, the law school and the law firms and businesses where they begin their careers.”
The Torys LLP Excellence in Business Skills for Lawyers Program began on September 4. Open to second- and third-year law students, the 15-week program gives students the opportunity to learn from leading professionals both in law and business.
The gift is a coordinated alumni giving initiative that is in addition to our existing support and involvement with the Career and Professional Development Office, the Mooting and Debating program, and the Torys LLP Business Etiquette Dinner.
