The Canada section of the directory has grown substantially year over year. Some 1,038 lawyers are ranked in the guide, an increase of 10.7% from the 938 ranked last year. Chambers ranked 316 firms, up 12.1% from the 282 that made the directory last year.
"I think that's just a natural reflection of the growing importance of Canada in the global legal market," says Catherine McGregor, managing editor of Chambers. "With the natural resources boom, and the economic links that Canada has with the U.K. and America, it just seems very logical to expand our research."
If you count the number of lawyers each national or full service firm has ranked in Chambers Global, then divide it by the number of lawyers the firm has, you can get a sense of which firm has the highest percentage of ranked counsel. By that measure, Torys would be first with 27% of its lawyers earning Chambers Global mentions.
