Chambers Global 2010 names three of Torys' practitioners among Canada's top restructuring and insolvency lawyers

February 23, 2010

Tony DeMarinis, Michael Rotsztain and Scott Bomhof are among Canada's top restructuring and insolvency lawyers in Chambers & Partners' Chambers Global: World’s Leading Lawyers for Business, The Client’s Guide 2010.

Torys' standing in the financial and investment community ensures it also has a strong corporate clientele in restructuring. Its clients, often debtors and investment funds, are able to draw on the knowledge of dedicated restructuring professionals, as well as the firm's resources in areas such as tax, corporate finance and securities. The team acted as Canadian counsel to GMAC and its Canadian subsidiary, the principal providers of dealer and customer financing to GM. The firm's office in New York means the group is well-positioned to handle cross-border work and represent U.S. clients in Canada.

  • Tony DeMarinis is "a very insightful guy with his finger on the pulse of the market." He is praised for his work on cross-border files and his knowledge of international restructuring.
  • Michael Rotsztain has close to three decades of experience in all areas of insolvency law and "really knows his stuff."
  • Scott Bomhof has a "great practice" that focuses on restructuring, banking and insolvency.
