Torys is saddened by the sudden passing of our friend and colleague, Charles Dalfen.

Charles was counsel to the firm, and a trusted and valued member of the team. An expert in communications policy and law, Charles served as chair of the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) from 2002 to 2006. As a lawyer, law professor, provincial deputy minister and CRTC chair, Charles' contributions were significant. His knowledge, advice and leadership in the communications field throughout his career has been beneficial to all of Canada.

"Charles was a warm, wonderful and loyal friend, a team player and a real gentleman," said Les Viner, managing partner of Torys. "Charles was a formidable mind in his field, inspiring others to excellence by his force of example, and his presence added real lustre to the firm. He was truly a remarkable man and he will be deeply missed."
