The U.S. Department of Justice, the European Commission and Canada's Competition Bureau have approved Thomson's US$27 billion acquisition of rival media and data firm Reuters Group. After an investigation into the pricing of Thomson's financial data, the competition authorities have ordered Thomson/Reuters to sell three international databases and other intellectual property to address antitrust concerns.
