Until recently, there have been relatively few large going-private transactions in Canada. That is about to change. Canada’s public markets are experiencing a “perfect storm” that is destined to lead to a major shift of businesses out of the hands of Canadian public retail shareholders and into the hands of large, often U.S.-based, private equity and institutional shareholders.
