Torys is pleased to announce that Jeremy Barretto has joined the firm in the Calgary office as a regulatory partner in the Infrastructure, Energy and Resources group.
Jeremy brings 15 years of leadership and experience in regulatory, environmental, energy and Aboriginal law to the Torys team. He represents proponents in obtaining approvals and negotiating agreements for major energy and natural resources projects across the country. Jeremy has expertise in complex regulatory and environmental processes spanning various industries including renewable energy, nuclear, electricity, oil and gas, mining and infrastructure development.
Jeremy is ranked in Chambers Global and Chambers Canada as a leading lawyer in energy: oil and gas (regulatory) and in Aboriginal law. He is also recognized in the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory, IFLR1000 and other prominent Canadian and global legal directories. He is a member of the bar in Alberta, British Columbia and Ontario and previously worked in environmental engineering, earning his Professional Engineer designation. Jeremy has lectured at law schools across Canada and is the co-author of The Law of Indigenous Ownership and Projects, published by Thomson Reuters.
