In memory of Derek Flaman

It is with profound sadness that we inform you our beloved partner, colleague and friend Derek Flaman passed away unexpectedly on May 15, 2024.

A former member of the firm’s Executive Committee and longstanding partner in our Calgary office, Derek was an outstanding lawyer who led some of the largest energy transactions in Western Canada over the last decade.

His clients and everyone who worked with him valued and admired his excellence, integrity and utmost professionalism in everything that he did. Above all, his kindness, willingness to make time for others and strength of character set him apart as an exceptional individual.

His contributions to our firm as a lawyer, teacher, mentor, Executive Committee member and leader were numerous and long-lasting. He will be thoroughly missed by all of us.

We extend our deepest sympathies to his family and loved ones as together we mourn his passing.

A reception will be held for Derek at the Calgary Golf and Country Club, located at 919 50th Avenue S.W. in Calgary, Alberta on May 30th from 4:00-6:00pm.
