Torys ranked #1 in Canada M&A by deal value

Torys is proud to announce that it has been ranked number 1 in Bloomberg, Refinitiv and Mergermarket’s Canada M&A league tables by deal value for the first three quarters of 2022.

Torys claimed the top spot in the Bloomberg table having worked on close to $40 billion worth of M&A deals across 45 transactions.

Some of the notable deals the firm has worked on that were announced in Q3 are below.

• Enbridge in its C$1.12 billion sale of an 11.57% non-operating interest in seven Enbridge-operated pipelines in northern Alberta to Athabasca Indigenous Investments, a consortium of 23 Indigenous communities in northern Alberta—the largest energy-related Indigenous economic partnership transaction in North America to date.
• Fairfax Financial in its proposed C$1.2 billion acquisition of Recipe Unlimited Corporation, Canada's largest full-service restaurant company franchising and operating some of the most recognized brands in the country.
• Olympus, as Canadian counsel, in its proposed ¥427.6 billion yen (US$3.1 billion) sale of EVIDENT Corporation to Bain Capital Private Equity, LP.

We are also excited to have been ranked for the first time in Mergermarket's Japan league table by deal value. We are the only Canadian firm in the top 20, having worked on more than $3 billion worth of deals in the first three quarters of 2022.
