Canadian Deals Roundup: Ricco Bhasin Quoted by American Lawyer
In American Lawyer’s recent Canadian deals roundup article, Torys lawyers are credited for their work on multiple large deals that took place over the past few months.
The first deal discussed is Scotiabank/BBVA Chile, in which Scotiabank acquired 68.19% ownership following an offer of $2.2 billion. The deal was accepted December 5. When asked about the impact of the deal, partner Ricco Bhasin said the following:
“I think it’s a great deal for Scotia. […] It’s right on their strategy in terms of the Pacific Alliance countries and Chile is right on target.”
American Lawyer also discussed the Platinum Equity/Husky IMS deal, in which Platinum Equity offered $3.85 billion for Ontario-based plastic molding specialist Husky.
