Pan/Parapan Am Athletes' Village
Torys acted as counsel to Laing O'Rourke as the construction contractor to Village Infrastructure Partners (Fengate Capital/Conservatory Group/Pemberton Group), a shortlisted proponent for the Toronto 2015 Pan/Parapan American Athletes' Village PPP project to design, build and finance the development of a waterfront neighborhood to be used by athletes participating in the 2015 Pan/Parapan American Games in Toronto, Ontario.
Project highlights include design and construction of:
- a new mixed-use neighbourhood, including market and affordable housing
- an environmentally sustainable community with the aim to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Gold certification for new facilities so as to provide healthy indoor environments, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote the efficient use of energy, water and other resources
- new roads and services, such as hydro, sewer and water infrastructure
Following the Games, the village area is designed to become a mixed-use, pedestrian-friendly riverside community that includes affordable housing and advancing the implementation of Waterfront Toronto's Precinct Plan for the West Don Lands.
