David’s practice focuses on corporate/commercial and securities law, with an emphasis on corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions. David has acted for acquiring and target companies, as well as controlling shareholders, in both negotiated and contested transactions. He has also acted for both issuers and investment banks in a variety of public offerings of debt and equity. David provides ongoing advice to public companies on their disclosure, corporate governance and other corporate and securities law obligations, as well as assistance in preparing and negotiating corporate/commercial contracts and board/governance and HR related policies and plans.
David advises key players in a wide variety of Canadian industries, including financials, information providers, retail, infrastructure, energy, manufacturing, metals/mining and government/regulatory bodies. David has played a lead role in acting for a number of Canada’s largest companies on both key strategic transactions and day-to-day matters, including the Weston group of public companies (Loblaw, George Weston and Choice Properties), Brookfield and Thomson Reuters.
