Laurie's practice focuses on corporate law, with an emphasis on private equity and mergers and acquisitions. She has experience advising a wide variety of private equity firms and pension plans in domestic and international investment (direct and co-investments), mergers and acquisitions, and divestiture transactions, and has advised clients regarding both public and private company targets in various industries. Laurie also has experience advising clients engaged in cross-border tender offers, shareholder arrangements, joint ventures, bankruptcy-related asset sales and corporate reorganizations. She has also advised clients on a broad range of corporate, securities, governance and Canadian pension fund regulatory matters.

Professional Involvement

Before joining Torys, Laurie was a corporate associate at a New York law firm, and she completed a secondment at a Paris law firm where she gained experience in European law and worked on international M&A transactions. Laurie is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Women in Private Equity, a committee within the CVCA (Canada’s Venture Capital and Private Equity Association).
