Karen is a corporate lawyer with deep experience in mergers and acquisitions, private equity, venture capital, corporate reorganizations, and fund formation. Her practice focuses on advising private equity firms, institutional investors, and strategic buyers and sellers on domestic and cross-border M&A transactions and equity financings across a wide range of industries. Karen is actively involved at every stage of the deal process, offering clear, business-minded guidance that reflects a deep understanding of her clients’ priorities and long-term goals.
With extensive experience in private fund formation, she regularly advises fund managers and investors throughout all stages of the process. Her practice covers the full lifecycle of fund creation, including fund structuring, regulatory compliance, key document drafting, and ensuring successful fund closings.
Before joining the firm, Karen practiced in the corporate departments of several leading Montréal law firms, where she advised clients on private company M&A, fund formation, and a broad range of corporate and commercial matters. She also gained experience in regulatory matters critical to operating in Québec’s regulated industries, including obtaining RBQ licenses for construction contractors, securing AMP authorizations to contract from the Autorité des marchés publics responsible for overseeing public procurement and managing OPC permits issued by Québec’s consumer protection agency.
Karen is trilingual, fluent in French, English, and Spanish.
In 2015, Karen co-founded the Comité Nouvelle Génération at Réseau Capital and served as co-chair until 2019. Réseau Capital is Québec’s leading association supporting professionals in the private equity and venture capital industry, established to support the integration and development of young professionals in private equity and venture capital ecosystem.
Karen has completed elective courses in finance and accounting at HEC Montréal, completed an intensive summer course in social finance at the Universidad Nacional de Cordoba (Argentina), and attended a winter session at the Faculty of Law at Université Paris II – Panthéon-Assas (France).
Karen was actively involved with the Université de Montréal team for the Charles-Rousseau Public International Law Moot Court Competition, serving as a coach and lecturer from 2009 to 2015. She led training sessions, provided guidance, and reviewed memoranda.
Karen is also committed to community service—volunteering with the Breakfast Club of Canada and as a support family volunteer with Premiers Pas Champlain.
