
Emma’s practice focuses on litigation and dispute resolution in a variety of areas, including commercial disputes, civil litigation, and public and regulatory matters. She has acted in contract and tort actions, tribunal proceedings, judicial review applications, administrative law appeals, and constitutional law matters.
Emma has appeared as counsel before the Federal Court of Appeal, the Federal Court, and the Canada Agricultural Review Tribunal, as well as before Ontario’s Divisional Court and Small Claims Court.
Prior to joining Torys, Emma worked as a litigator at the Department of Justice. Emma also served as a judicial law clerk for Justice Kasirer of the Supreme Court of Canada and for Justices Gillese, Lauwers, and Zarnett of the Court of Appeal for Ontario.
At law school, Emma was a senior editor for the University of Toronto Faculty of Law Review and was a Division Leader and Caseworker at Downtown Legal Services. She also mooted in the Gale Cup Moot, where she earned the Second Place Factum award and advanced to the final round.
Emma is a member of The Advocates’ Society.
