New York partner Scott Semer will speak at the Pension Investment Association of Canada (PIAC) 2024 Tax Forum, being held on November 7 and 8 in Toronto.
Held annually, the PIAC Tax Forum connects pension tax professionals from across the country to hear from the sector's top minds on a wide variety of key tax issues.
Scott’s will speak on the session titled “US Tax Considerations for US Private Credit Investments,” during which he will discuss United States tax issues related to structing investments in private credit transactions. The session will also explore strategies to mitigate the risk of being perceived as engaging in U.S. taxable trade, or having a permanent establishment in the U.S., for purposes of the U.S.-Canada income tax treaty.
