Sheila Block elected Honoury Bencher in Parliament of Middle Temple
Torys is delighted to announce that the Parliament of Middle Temple, one of the historic English Inns of Court, has elected our esteemed colleague Sheila Block as an Honorary Bencher. In addition to Sheila's unparalleled reputation as an advocate, this honour recognizes the exceptional contribution she has made to the legal profession in Canada and internationally, including as one of the world's finest teachers of advocacy and as a trustee of the Harold G. Fox Education Fund (the administrator of the Fox Scholarship program).
Middle Temple has a long and distinguished history that dates back to the 1300s. It currently has 146 Honorary Benchers, including many well-known barristers, The Duke of Cambridge and the actor Sir Mark Rylance.
The only other Canadian to receive this honour this year was Chief Justice Richard Wagner of the Supreme Court of Canada.
Sheila's election is an honour and acknowledgement of her contributions.
