Alex is an intellectual property litigator whose practice focuses on patent, copyright and other IP-adjacent commercial litigation.

Alex’s patent litigation practice includes both prosecuting and defending complex patent infringement and impeachment actions for a variety of clients including pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers, clients in the oil and gas sector, as well as proceedings under the Patented Medicines (Notice of Compliance) Regulations concerning leading drug products for multinational and North American pharmaceutical companies. Alex’s copyright litigation practice includes appearing as counsel in precedent‑setting disputes that have shaped Canadian copyright law, as well as acting as counsel for leading innovators in emerging generative‑AI–related copyright matters.

Known for her effective management of technically complex cases, Alex has appeared as counsel before the Federal Court, the Federal Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada.
