SMR Forum Edmonton 2026

Partners Michael Fortier and Krista Hill, and strategic advisor Rumina Velshi will speak at the SMR Forum Edmonton 2026 taking place September 16-17 in Edmonton. The forum will bring together leaders from government, Indigenous communities, industry, finance, academia, and regulation to discuss the development, deployment, and future role of nuclear energy and small modular reactors in Western Canada.

Rumina will provide the keynote address “From Ambition to Delivery: Building Canada’s Next Nuclear Era” on September 16 at 10:00 a.m. The keynote will examine the conditions, capabilities, and frameworks required to support the long-term development and delivery of nuclear energy projects in Canada.

Krista will speak on the panel “Financing the Next Generation of Nuclear Projects” on September 16 at 12:10 p.m. The panel will examine financing models, risk allocation strategies, and policy considerations associated with the development and deployment of new nuclear energy projects.

Michael will speak on the panel “Modern Nuclear Regulation: Enabling the Next Generation of Projects” on September 16 at 1:30 p.m. The panel will explore regulatory frameworks, modernization efforts, and coordination strategies to support the planning and deployment of new nuclear energy projects while maintaining established safety, security, and environmental standards.
