All mergers and acquisitions in Canada may be reviewed by the Competition Bureau to determine whether they could result in a substantial lessening or prevention of competition. Mergers that exceed certain prescribed financial thresholds in the Competition Act must be notified to the Competition Bureau prior to completion.
