Torys Acts on Lexpert's Deal of the Year and Four of the Top 10 Deals of 2015

January 11, 2016

Torys is pleased to report that our work appears in four of the deals in Lexpert’s annual top 10 deals list, including our involvement in the Deal of the Year, the Hydro One IPO. The list is intended to reflect deals that have significantly impacted the investment landscape in Canada.

As referenced in Lexpert’s Top Ten Deals of 2015, Torys acted for:

  • Province of Ontario in Hydro One’s IPO
  • Cinven Ltd. in the sale of its subsidiary Amdipharm Mercury Limited to Concordia Healthcare Corp.
  • the financial advisor to Legacy Oil + Gas in its acquisition by Crescent Point Energy
  • Cadillac Fairview and First Capital Realty in Target Corp.’s CCAA proceedings

With respect to the Hydro One IPO, a deal involving the Government of Ontario and key business adviser Ed Clark, partner Sharon Geraghty was also sought for comment, saying that “the ‘broadening of ownership’ model is important” (the topic of expanding diversity of ownership in traditionally public-sector businesses is discussed in our recently released M&A Top Trends 2016 article, “Consolidation in the Regulated Electricity Sector is Accelerating”).
