Franco-Nevada stream financing on the Casa Berardi Mine
On March 25, 2026, Franco-Nevada Corporation ("Franco-Nevada"), through a wholly-owned Canadian subsidiary, closed its gold stream financing transaction with Orezone Gold Corporation ("Orezone") in support of Orezone’s acquisition of Hecla Mining Company's ("Hecla") producing Casa Berardi Gold Mine and all other Québec assets, including the Heva-Hosco Gold Project (“Heva-Hosco”). Closing of the acquisition took place concurrently with the gold stream transaction.
Pursuant to the terms of the gold stream, Franco-Nevada provided an upfront deposit of US$100 million at closing of the transactions, in return for which it will receive stream deliveries consisting of:
- Fixed Deliveries: 1,625 oz of gold per quarter (6,500 oz of gold per year) for the first five years (i.e. 2026-2030), followed by,
- Variable Deliveries: 5.0% of gold produced from the Casa Berardi Mine and other Québec assets (excluding Heva-Hosco) and 2.5% of gold produced from Heva-Hosco.
With an effective date of January 1, 2026, the first full quarter fixed delivery under the gold stream is due by the later of April 15, 2026 and closing. Gold ounces delivered will be subject to an ongoing payment of 20% of spot price to Orezone Gold Corporation. The gold stream will be secured and will benefit from a parent guarantee from Orezone.
Franco-Nevada will also maintain a right of first refusal on future streams and royalties related to the Casa Berardi Mine and the Heva-Hosco Gold Project.
