Franco-Nevada royalty option over Autazes project
On November 6, 2024, Franco-Nevada Corporation ("Franco-Nevada") announced that it acquired an option from Brazil Potash Corporation (“Brazil Potash”) to purchase a 4.0% gross revenue royalty on potash produced from Brazil Potash's Autazes project in Brazil.
Located in the Amazonas State of Brazil, the Autazes project is a sylvinite potash mine that is expected to be one of the largest potash mines in Latin America. It is 100% owned by Brazil Potash.
With initial planned annual potash production of 2.4 million tons per year, Brazil Potash’s management believes it could potentially supply approximately 17% of the growing potash demand in Brazil with future plans to double output.
The option acquisition showed Franco-Nevada’s interest in participating in Brazil Potash’s US$30 million initial public offering on the NYSE American, which closed November 29, 2024. Franco-Nevada participated as a cornerstone investor.
