Rutherford Station
Torys acted as counsel to Infrastructure Ontario and Metrolinx as public authorities for the Rutherford Station PPP project—a component of the first phase of Metrolinx's Regional Express Rail program—to design, build and finance improvements and infrastructure upgrades at Rutherford station in support of the planned expansion of GO Transit's rail service on the Barrie line.

The scope of work for the project includes
- a new multi-level parking structure with integrated station building, and pedestrian bridge to a new rail platform
- the re-design of surface parking, kiss and ride, bus loop and pedestrian access
- rail/road grade separation on Rutherford Road, and pumping station
- a pedestrian bridge over Rutherford Road
- new rail platforms
- a second heavy rail track and the provision for future third express center track
On December 13, 2018, Infrastructure Ontario and Metrolinx awarded a fixed-price contract of C$239 million to EllisDon Infrastructure Transit in connection with the project.
Construction began in August 2019, with completion expected in 2023.
