Art Gallery of Ontario
Torys acted as counsel to the Art Gallery of Ontario in its C$276 million Transformation AGO project, which involved the expansion and renovation of the AGO.
Building on the unprecedented art and funding contributions by Ken Thomson, the transformation project saw the addition of thousands of new works to the gallery's collections, along with a dramatic and innovative architectural expansion led by world-renowned architect Frank Gehry, adding close to 100,000 square feet of new space and increasing art-viewing space by 47%.
Further information on the project can be found on the AGO's website.
The Torys team was led by Dick Balfour and included Jim Lawson (corporate/projects), David Dell, Graham Rawlinson (real estate), Adam Delean, Natasha De Cicco and Milosz Zemanek (financing), Conor McCourt (IP), Jim Welkoff and Craig Burley (tax).
