Overview

Jonathan Weisz is head of the firm’s Project Finance Practice and chair of the firm's Finance Committee. He is recognized as one of Canada’s leading banking and finance lawyers. Jonathan’s practice focuses on project finance, project development and secured lending. He is the recipient of numerous Project Finance Magazine’s Deal of the Year Awards as well as the recipient of the Association for Financial Professionals (AFP) Pinnacle Award. Jonathan was an integral part of the team on a mining financing which, at the time of the transaction, was the largest ever in the world for a greenfield mining project.

Jonathan has advised on numerous transactions, in particular in the energy, infrastructure and mining industries. He has represented some of North America's most prominent energy companies and project finance lenders in a variety of transactions in Canada and abroad. Jonathan has worked in Latin America, for a year at a law firm in Sao Paulo, Brazil and for two years as Director of Project Development for an international energy company in the region.
