Overview

Patricia Jackson is a senior trial and appellate counsel with a broad litigation practice, including corporate and commercial litigation, class actions, securities, professional negligence, defamation and other media law, environmental and energy, constitutional and administrative law. She has appeared as counsel at every level of court in Ontario, in the Federal Court of Canada and in the Supreme Court of Canada, as well as before administrative tribunals. Trisha has also served as counsel to a special legislative committee inquiring into the release of confidential information by a member of government, and as Commission Counsel to the Commission of Inquiry concerning the Kingston Prison for Women.

Professional Involvement

Trisha is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. She is a frequent speaker and lecturer at the Law Society of Upper Canada, Senior Legal Executives’ Forum, Canadian Bar Association, The Advocates’ Society, Insight, The Canadian Institute, American Bar Association, University of Toronto and Osgoode Hall. She has been a guest instructor in advocacy at the University of Toronto and Osgoode Hall Law School.

A recipient of the 2009 Law Society of Upper Canada Medal, Trisha is vice president and a member of the board of directors of the Canadian Civil Liberties Association; the Senior Chair of the University of Toronto Tribunal; an active member, and former director, of The Advocates’ Society; a former member of the Ontario Judicial Council; and a former director of the Legal Education and Action Fund Foundation. In addition, Trisha is a director of the prestigious Canadian Institute for Advanced Legal Studies. The Institute, conceived by The Right Honourable Paul Martin, Senior, meets regularly in Cambridge and provides lawyers and judges an opportunity to attend lectures and to engage in discussions beyond the scope of their daily work. The Institute also offers scholarships in Mr. Martin’s name to Canadian law students for study in the University of Cambridge Master of Laws program.
