Building Relationships with Aboriginal Peoples — A Proven, Principled Approach

Calgary, AB

October 23, 2014

Recent Supreme Court of Canada decisions have reinforced the importance of building relationships with Aboriginal peoples to develop resource projects in Canada. The Honourable Frank Iacobucci, former Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada and his Torys colleagues have spent the past decade building those relationships, heading up initiatives like the Indian Residential Schools settlement and the Ontario government’s negotiations on the Ring of Fire.

We invite you to a private conversation with Frank and his Torys colleagues. They will discuss the principled approach they have developed for structuring negotiations and developing strong and productive relationships with Aboriginal peoples, and will be available to answer questions on recent case law, duty to consult and other Aboriginal issues.

*This session is accredited for 1.0 hours of LSUC professionalism credit
