Mineração Serra Verde Rare Earth Project
Torys acted as counsel to Orion Mine Finance in connection with a multi-faceted project financing package made available to SVRE Holdings Ltd. to fund the development and construction of the Mineração Serra Verde Rare Earth Project in Goiás, Brazil.
The project, which occupies an area of 70,363 hectares, is anticipated to have the capacity to produce 7,000 tonnes of rare earth concentrates per year, equivalent to around 5% of world demand, with an estimated useful life of 24 years.
The Pela Ema deposit in Minaçu is a saprolite “ion adsorption-type” rare earth element mineralization, which often contains a high proportion of heavy rare earth elements (HREE) and with a relatively easy, low-cost extraction process.
Torys acted as counsel with a team led by Michael Pickersgill and Tom Zverina and that included Jacob Weinstock, Michael Jason, Erin Shin and Christopher Tworzyanski (corporate/financing).
