MBTA Automated Fare Collections System 2.0
Torys acted as counsel to Boston AFC 2.0 OpCo (Cubic Transportation/John Laing) as the successful proponent for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority's US$699 million Automated Fare Collections System 2.0 PPP project to design, install, finance, operate and maintain a new automated, account-based open fare payment system.

The next-generation fare collection system will include account-based ticketing using mobile and contactless bankcard options, which will allow customers to create personalized transit accounts to see ride history, check balances, add value as well as report lost or stolen cards.
Torys acted as counsel to the successful proponent the Cubic | John Laing Consortium with a team that included Tara Mackay, Joel Ramsey, Josh Van Deurzen and Alison Perlman.
