Meikle Wind Farm

The largest wind farm in British Columbia to date, the project utilizes 61 General Electric GE wind turbines, with a mix of 2.75 MW (26) and 35 3.2 MW (35) models, and generates enough electricity to fuel 54,000 British Columbian homes.

Located on Provincial Crown Lands within the traditional territory of Treaty 8 First Nations between Tumbler Ridge and Chetwynd, the project was developed with the involvement and support of the Tumbler Ridge, Chetwynd and First Nations communities.

Construction of the project started in January 2015 and it achieved commercial operation in January 2017. All renewable power generated by the project is sold to BC Hydro under a 25-year power purchase agreement contracted through the 2008 Clean Power Call Request For Proposals.
