Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH)
Torys acted as counsel to Scotia Capital, Dexia Crédit Local and Casgrain & Company as the underwriters to Carillion Health Solutions, the successful proponent for the C$293 million Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) Phase 1B Redevelopment PPP project to design, build, finance and maintain three new buildings as part of the Centre's Queen Street campus in Toronto, Ontario.
The project involved the demolition of the existing administration building on Queen Street West and the construction of three new state-of-the art buildings.
Features of the project include
- provide 12 new beds for youth dealing with mental health and addictions issues - the first of their kind in Toronto
- house the Geriatric Mental Health Program, combining 48 in-patient beds with a suite of outpatient programming and supports
- improve client access to CAMH's programs by integrating them into the emerging Queen Street hub
On December 18, 2009, the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) and Infrastructure Ontario announced the signing of a contract with Carillion Health Solutions for CAMH's redevelopment project.
Construction began on April 6, 2010 and the new centre officially opened on June 21, 2012.
