Torys advised on four transactions nominated for M&A Atlas Awards 2013

Torys is pleased to announce that it was involved in four deals nominated for M&A Atlas Awards, Global Major Markets: 2013. The M&A Atlas Awards recognize achievements for completed deals valued above a billion dollars. A total of 302 transactions closed in 2012 were eligible and only 127 deals qualified as finalists. 37 deals will be honoured in 37 unique categories of deal awards to be presented at the Awards Gala Ceremony on May 9, 2013 in New York City. Torys was involved in the following four nominated deals:

Global M&A Deal of the Year, $5-10 billion

  • Glencore International acquisition of Viterra in partnership with Agrium and Richardson International

Consortium Deal of the Year

  • BC Partners and Canada Pension Plan Investment Board acquisition of Cequel Communications (Suddenlink) from GS Capital Partners, Jordon Company, Oaktree Capital, and Quadrangle Group
  • Maple Group, a consortium consisting of Canadian pension funds and banks acquisition of The TMX Group, The Canadian Depository for Securities and Alpha Trading Systems

Telecom Services Deal of the Year

  • BC Partners and Canada Pension Plan Investment Board acquisition of Cequel Communications (Suddenlink) from GS Capital Partners, Jordon Capital, Oaktree Capital, and Quadrangle Group
