Torys ranks among Canada’s top corporate finance legal advisers in 2012

Bloomberg's and Financial Post Dealmakers' 2012 year-end corporate finance league tables rank Torys as among the top law firms in the world to advise on corporate finance transactions.

The results summarized here are based on transaction values, not counts.

Bloomberg

  • In the category of advising managers of Canadian equity and equity-linked offerings, Torys ranked 1st, with 45 transactions valued at US$7.344 billion.
  • In the category of advising managers of Canadian equity offerings, Torys ranked 1st, with 36 transactions valued at US$6.658 billion.
  • In the category of advising managers of Canadian common equity, income trust, convertible and preferred offerings, Torys ranked 1st, with 46 transactions valued at US$7.444 billion. 
  • In the category of advising managers of Canadian initial public offerings, Torys ranked 1st, with 4 transactions valued at US$519 million.


Financial Post Dealmakers

  • In the category of advising underwriters of Canadian equity offerings, Torys ranked 1st, with 44 transactions valued at C$7.273 billion.
  • In the category of advising underwriters of Canadian debt and equity offerings combined, Torys ranked 3rd, with 50 transactions valued at C$11.099 billion.
  • In the category advising on the 10 largest debt offerings in Canada, Torys ranked
    • fifth for advising the udnerwriters in the Bank of Nova Scotia's C$1.75 billion offering of debentures
    • ninth for advising the underwriters in the Bank of Nova Scotia's C$1.5 billion offering of debentures
  • In the category advising on the 10 largest equity offerings in Canada, Torys ranked
    • first for advising the underwriters in the Bank of Nova Scotia's C$1.73 billion offering of common shares
    • second for advising the underwriters in the Bank of Nova Scotia's C$1.66 billion offering of common shares
