Student Program: Toronto
Social Activities
Social activities keep us all in touch. We enjoy Tuesday buffet lunches, Friday afternoon get-togethers and several firm-wide events to which the students are always invited, such as Family Fun Day at the Zoo and the Torys’ summer party. This year, all the articling students were invited, along with a guest, to attend Torys’ firm weekend in Chicago. We also host special student social activities, which have included trips to Niagara-on-the-Lake to attend the Shaw Festival, sailing scavenger hunts on Lake Ontario, cooking classes, pool tournaments, afternoons at the movies, evenings at the theatre, sporting events, volleyball tournaments and charity events. In addition, Torys' sports teams play in various Toronto leagues.
In the summer, we hold a bi-weekly luncheon series to which we invite the practice group leaders to talk about their practices. This will help you get a sense of what the firm is doing as a whole, and will enable you to make more informed decisions about how you want to spend your time during articles. During the articling year, we have a luncheon series to which we invite leaders in the business and legal communities to speak about what they do.
We also have, for our students and lawyers to enjoy, a state-of-the-art Lawyers’ Room equipped with a large television, comfortable couches, fresh fruit and meals, and a foosball table.
