Student Program: Toronto
Overview
You are about to embark on an exciting new stage in your legal career by becoming a legal practitioner.
We know that you are facing some difficult choices and want you to have as much information as possible so that you can make an informed decision. We hope that this section of our website will tell you most of what you need to know about Torys and what the firm can offer you.
We also want to give you a taste of the firm's values and "personality." Speak to our students about their experiences – their insights can be valuable in helping you to differentiate between firms. Please also take the time to ask your classmates, professors and others in the legal community about Torys. We are very proud of our reputation.
We are confident of offering our future lawyers not only outstanding opportunities but also a highly supportive and stimulating working environment. This positive working environment and our collegial culture are qualities that we value most about our firm and that, we believe, truly set us apart. These are the reasons why so many of our lawyers – to whom so many doors are open – come to Torys and stay.
We wish you all the best and hope that you enjoy this new stage of your career.

Our Student Program
In the early years of practice, you will learn where your interests and strengths lie, and start to build client relationships. We look for summer and articling students who not only show the potential to develop excellent technical skills but also appreciate the importance of providing excellent service and forming close, long-term relationships. If this sounds like you, and if you would like to help us maintain and grow our business in this way, then you will thrive at Torys.
Articling and summer students are a vital part of our continuing growth and success – you are our future associates and partners. As a Torys student, you will have the opportunity to participate in dynamic relationships in which outstanding work, client service and a rewarding professional experience are paramount.
Your experience as a student at Torys will be intense but fulfilling. Our objective is to help you develop the disciplined analytical, technical and practical skills that you will need to become a successful lawyer.
During your summer and articles, you will work with partners, associates and other students on a variety of matters and for a variety of clients, drawing on the knowledge, judgment and expertise of your colleagues in the firm. This approach accelerates the learning process, builds professional skills and industry experience, and will help you develop your own blend of legal skills and professional style.
