Leslie Stacey-Taylor has been a real estate law clerk at Torys since 1986. As a senior real estate law clerk, Leslie has extensive experience in acquisitions, sales and financings of all types of real property, including vacant land, industrial properties, office buildings/complexes, shopping centres and hydroelectric facilities, and in portfolio and multi-property acquisitions.
A large portion of Leslie’s practice involves providing assistance to the solicitors of the firm in reviewing, analyzing and summarizing title searches and title documents in both the Registry and Land Titles systems and off-title searches; rectifying title deficiencies; drafting closing agendas and closing documents for acquisitions; reviewing and commenting on surveys and reference plans; negotiating title insurance policies for owners and lenders; preparing and registering registration documents; drafting reports/opinions; compiling and preparing record books; and managing real property due diligence in other provinces in portfolio transactions.
