Practice

Patrice Walch-Watson is a very experienced business lawyer who regularly plays a leading role in advising some of Canada’s largest public, private and government businesses in “bet the company” transactions.

Patrice has a wealth of experience, particularly in cross-border matters, and focuses her corporate and securities practice primarily in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, public and private corporate finance, privatizations and corporate governance. Patrice has a particular expertise in business transactions involving government-owned enterprises. She regularly advises clients on ongoing securities regulatory compliance and corporate governance best practices.

Patrice has extensive experience in planning, negotiating and implementing strategic transactions for clients and advising boards and management on the legal aspects of these important transactions. Recent examples of this include serving as lead counsel in three of the top 10 Canadian M&A deals in 2009, in the 2010 initial public offering of General Motors (the world’s largest IPO), and in the 2011 sale of the Canada’s Chrysler Group equity.

Patrice works with a wide range of clients, including some of Canada’s most established publicly traded companies, large privately held companies or their shareholders and government enterprises. In addition to transaction work, she provides ongoing counsel to a number of clients on a broad range of matters.

Patrice is an officer of a number of companies and involved in several charities.
