	Conor is the co-chair of the Intellectual Property Practice.

Practice

Conor McCourt is a co-chair of Torys' Intellectual Property Practice. He has more than 30 years of experience practising in all areas of intellectual property, particularly in the chemical, biochemical and pharmaceutical patent, trademark and regulatory fields. He manages intellectual property-related aspects of major business transactions and intellectual property litigation, and engages in the acquisition, licensing and strategic management of intellectual property assets. Conor is also a member of Torys' Payments and Cards Group and has been involved in the brand- and trademark-related aspects of a number of significant transactions in the payments and cards area.

In addition to his qualification as a lawyer, Conor is a registered patent and trademark agent in the United States and Canada.

a transfer pricing structuring program and program implementation for a multinational biotechnology (proteomics) company
intellectual property aspects of a C$1 billion transaction in the Canadian brewing industry
product clearances (freedom to operate) in the industrial chemical field
a patent and trademark portfolio acquisition strategy for a key product in the pharmaceutical marketplace

Cases

Conor’s significant cases include

the regulation of product pricing in the pharmaceutical industry and litigation involving the patent/health regulatory interface
litigation proceedings based on injurious falsehood and trade libel relating to a major pharmaceutical product
patent infringement and validity proceedings in the electrochemical machining field

Conor has spoken on many occasions to industry groups and professional organizations on intellectual property matters.
