David Mattingly’s practice focuses on the tax aspects of cross-border transactions and business operations. His clients include publicly and privately held corporations, financial institutions, insurance companies, foreign government pension funds and sovereign wealth funds. David’s international experience includes advising multinational companies on structuring acquisitions and spin-offs. He also advises foreign government pension funds on investments in private equity, real estate, infrastructure and joint ventures, as well as structuring worldwide investments to take advantage of tax treaties and statutory exemptions. David works closely with traders using complex financial instruments, high net–worth individuals, natural resource companies, financial institutions, and private equity and hedge funds. David has recently been involved in representing Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board, Alberta Investment Management Corporation, First Capital Realty and IESI-BFC.
