On January 7, 2010, Starwood Energy Group Global, LLC (Starwood Energy) announced that its affiliate, Starwood SSM1 Canada Incorporated (Starwood SSM1) has completed its acquisition and related project financing of two 10 MW solar photovoltaic power generation projects in the City of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. The project, when complete, will be among the largest completed in North America.
Starwood SSM1 acquired the project from Pod Generating Group, a developer of community-scale solar power generating facilities and the original developer of the project. The financing was provided by Norddeutsche Landesbank Girozentrale.
Starwood Energy, headquartered in Greenwich, CT, is a private investment firm focused on energy infrastructure projects.
