Recurrent Energy International Holdings acquires 35 solar projects in Ontario

Torys represented Recurrent Energy with a team that included Philip Symmonds, Alison Lacy, Valerie Helbronner, Donald Roger, Kimberley Kowalik, Corrado Cardarelli, Andrew Wong, Beverley Liske and Gwen Johnson.

On March 18, 2009, Recurrent Energy International Holdings, LLC completed its acquisition of 35 solar projects in Ontario from UPC Solar, LLC, a Chicago-based renewable energy development company. The projects are part of the Ontario government's Standard Offer Program, which encourages smaller renewable projects by providing a standard pricing regime for eligible projects. The program has been revamped under the Green Energy Act, which will provide a new feed-in tariff that is intended to spark new investment in renewable energy supply.

Recurrent Energy, based in San Francisco, is a distributed power and solar energy provider with over 750 MW of operational renewable energy assets and over 3,000 MW in development worldwide in areas of high demand.
