Private equity consortium completes US$5.1 billion acquisition of Associated British Ports 

Torys represented Borealis Infrastructure with a team of Michael Feldman, Krista Hill and John Guccione (corporate), and John Tobin (tax).

On August 22, 2006, a consortium of Borealis Infrastructure (on behalf of OMERS), Goldman Sachs, Prudential Insurance plc and GIC (the government of Singapore’s pension plan) successfully completed the US$5.1 billion (£2.8 billion) acquisition of 100% of Associated British Ports Holdings plc.

Associated British Ports Holdings is the largest port operator in the United Kingdom, owning 21 ports, handling one quarter of U.K. seaborne trade, and operating a number of transport-related businesses, as well as a property division. It also has car import services at four U.S. ports.
