Petro-Canada and Suncor Energy complete merger 

Torys represented Petro-Canada in its strategic merger with Suncor Energy, acting as U.S. counsel and special Canadian counsel with respect to the Petro-Canada Public Participation Act, and structuring and employment matters. On August 1, 2009, Petro-Canada and Suncor Energy Inc. announced the completion of its joint merger. The combined entity will operate corporately and trade on the TSX and NYSE under the Suncor Energy (SU) name.

Suncor Energy is now Canada's largest energy company and the fifth largest North American-based energy company by market value.
