On November 26, 2010, The Canadian Press (CP), a not-for-profit, non-share capital corporation with broad media membership, announced the closing of a reorganization under which a new for-profit company, Canadian Press Enterprises Inc. (CPE) purchased all of CP's assets and assumed all of CP's liabilities. CPE is jointly owned by 1836775 Ontario Limited (a subsidiary of CTVglobemedia Publishing Inc., the publisher of The Globe and Mail), Torstar Holdings Inc. (a subsidiary of Torstar Corporation) and Square Victoria C.P. Holdings Inc.
Under the new structure, CP will continue to serve the entire range of Canada's media industry in both official languages.
